The New York State Senate passed anti-workplace sexual harassment legislation on Monday. It applies to both the private and public sector and prohibits individuals from creating a hostile work environment along with encouraging those victimized by sexual harassment to come forward. Other provisions prevent taxpayers for paying for public sector sexual harassment settlements and expand employee protections to include independent contractors. The legislation now goes to the Assembly.
