Over one hundred people gathered at the Northeast Classic Car Museum in Norwich Saturday morning as the Centennial Committee formally kicked off the 100th birthday of the City of Norwich.

Remarks were made by Museum Director Robert Jeffrey who then turned the meeting over to co-chairs of the event, Kay Zaia and former mayor Mary Lou Stewart. They gave the audience a run-down on the events planned for each month through December.

Co-chair Kay Zaia touches on just one:

Following their presentation, a representative for Assemblyman Cliff Crouch and Senator Tom Libous read the proclamation of the celebration. Norwich Mayor Joseph Mariano then read letters from U.S. Senators Chuck Schumer and Kristin Gillibrand, Representative Richard Hanna, and Governor Andrew Cuomo.
