There is a new homework requirement for people applying for New York State hunting and trapping licenses.  People seeking hunting licenses have long been required to attend a free safety training course. The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation says that beginning this year students are required to review course materials and complete a homework sheet before attending the classroom and field lessons. Environmental officials say students who do the homework are better prepared for the training course. The homework takes about three hours.
