Walton Fire Department responded to an alarm at 2:45 am this morning, battling a blaze on South River Road until almost 10 am.

A pole barn and its contents were completely destroyed. The attached building, which housed a hair salon, was also destroyed. Nearby camper trailers and vehicles suffered damage. Walton Head Start, located in the vicinity, had to be closed.

No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time. County officials are currently at the scene investigating.

Delhi and Downsville Fire Departments also responded to the fire.
