We can't believe we're saying this, but Nintendo has suddenly discovered how awesome downloadable content can truly be, and this latest Mario Kart 8 trailer shows off exactly what we mean: one of the new tracks in the November update is a remake of the Excitebike Arena from the NES classic!

This minute-and-a-half video gives us a brief look at the new track, but from what we see it looks like a spot-on replica of the first track Excitebike throws at us. The same jump patterns, the same mud puddles, the same everything. What's cool is that the track will not stay that way, as Polygon reports that the ramp structure is completely randomized and will change every time we play the track. Interesting.

If this is the kind of downloadable content Nintendo is going to make, we can only hope that more of their games get the same kind of attention. We already know that Mewtwo is coming to the new Super Smash Bros., but what other fighters or stages could they be concocting? Heck, we don't even know the full slate of tracks coming to Mario Kart next month, and after this we don't know what to expect. What we do know, however, is that Nintendo has finally seemed to figure out the whole DLC thing, and it makes us very intrigued for the future.

The November update for Mario Kart 8 will launch... well, in November, with another update to follow in May 2015.

Excitebike is cool and all, but it's still no Rainbow Road.
