Now that Spring has finally arrived, people are getting outside and enjoying outdoor exercise.  I know quite a few people that have the Fitbit to help them track how many steps they take throughout the day and the amount of calories they burn, but I really didn't feel like spending all that money for that when there are free alternatives that exist.

Thanks to a friend, I have discovered a fantastic free app to help me track my walking and how far I'm walking as I take different walking routes.  It's called "Map My Walk".  Here's what you can do with it: it enables you to use the built-in GPS of your mobile device to track all of your fitness activities. Record your workout details, including duration, distance, pace, speed, elevation, calories burned, and route traveled on an interactive map.

There are many varieties of this app, depending on what you're looking for.  You can also get "Map My Hike" and "Map my Run".  These are great apps and best of all, they're FREE!
