1. How can I increase my distance on my drives?
Answer: When setting up for a driver during a tee shot it is very important to remember a few key things. Please note that this shot is different right from the start because the ball is teed up high. It is crucial that we make an upward hit with the club into the ball. A simple adjustment with your set up will help promote this upward strike. Simply drop your right shoulder at address (left shoulder for all you southpaws) and you will see an improvement. Tee it high and let it fly!

2. What are a few ways to get people excited about golf in the area?
It is our responsibility as ambassadors for the game to promote, teach, and facilitate better golf each day. I am excited to have an opportunity to coach the game of golf and it is important to involve the membership in an instructional program of some kind.
Following are some of the instructional programs that are successful at the clubs I have been at:

• Individual Lessons
• On-Course Playing Lessons
• Women’s Clinics and Beginner’s Clinics
• Short Game Clinics
• Individual Lesson Series
• Fittings
• Video Lessons

3. How do I improve my bunker play?
1. The best way to execute a good bunker shot is to:

  • Understand how a bunker shot is supposed to work
  • Bounce angle on the club
  • Slide the club under the ball and let the sand carry the ball onto the green

2. To perfect your Bunker Shot swing fundamentals.

  •  Keep 75% of your body weight on your left foot
  •  Slightly open the club face so the club face can “slide” underneath the ball.
  • Take as thin and shallow of a divot under the ball as possible. (remember, the club must hit the sand before it hits the ball)
  •  Finish the golf swing with all body weight on your left foot, your right toe resting on the ground and your torso facing the target.

With a little bit of practice of the proper swing fundamentals, your bunker play will improve.

If you need additional help with your bunker play (or any other part of your game), please do not hesitate to call the golf shop to schedule an individual lesson.
