The former operators of a Cooperstown nursing home take plea deals on endangering a resident’s welfare in 2016. The State Attorney General’s office announced as part of the deal Joseph Zupnik, former corporate owner and operator of Focus Rehabilitation and Nursing Center and former manager Daniel Herman are forbidden for a five year period from healthcare provider management and are banned from delivering health care to nursing home residents. The deal includes a $1 million reimbursement to the state Medicaid program.

Both men were sentenced to substantial fines and community service but avoided jail terms.
