Alex Hutchinson, creative director of Far Cry 4, is excited to move forward on a new venture of his that has just been approved.

An article on CVG reports that, together with some of his previous Assassin's Creed staff, Hutchinson has been given the green light to move forward on a new project, now that his others are finished. Hutchinson admitted in a recent interview with CVG that, "The challenge then is to keep costs down and make something that competes at a high level, without saying 'we need a thousand people for a new IP!'"

If you're wondering what caused Hutchinson to want to branch out into another project, it has to do with Ubisoft Montreal's new internal entrepreneurial initiative. Through this initiative, Ubisoft Montreal takes key creative staff and pushes them to pitch new ideas when finished with other projects. The initiative seems to have paid off for Ubisoft's Patrick Plourde (Far Cry 3, Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood), who pitched Child of Light. a game that has not only been successful enough to land it a permanent space at Ubisoft Montreal, but has also been nominated for Best Score/Soundtrack at the Game Awards 2014. Ubisoft has also said that "it expects to release many more, small experimental projects" such as the one that Plourde developed and Hutchinson got clearance for in the future.

However, if you're super excited to see what Hutchinson has up his sleeve, you have a while to wait before he goes public with it. "There's different pressures on these sorts of projects," Hutchinson admitted, "but at least at the moment we've got the OK from the studio to try something new." One of these pressures may be to get it past Ubisoft's editorial team. Although Ubisoft Montreal CEO Yannis Mallat did say that, "For [him] it's important for projects like Child of Light and Far Cry: Blood Dragon to exist and to know that there is a place for them here."

While Ubisoft is working on growing its talent, you can be working on honing your skills in Far Cry 4, out now for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC.
