Not having little kids around anymore, I was just wondering the other day if the Tooth Fairy still visits little kids to deposit money under a pillow when they loose their first tooth?

And how did this whole thing begin?

Esther Watkins Arnold wrote about the tooth fairy in an eight-page playlet in 1927 called The Tooth Fairy.  Schools began performing Arnold’s play the following year, and children, primed with vivid imaginations, placed their freshly lost teeth under their pillows at night in the hopes of a visit from the tooth fairy.  Years later, in 1949, the story was re-kindled in a children's book also titled The Tooth Fairy by Lee Rogow.

Today, August 22, is National Tooth Fairy Day.  So what is it...still a nickel?  A dime?

I am curious to know.....
