The video below is showing an unusual wild fire scene for New York State which continues to burn.  The fire started Sunday afternoon in Summitville, Sullivan County, and spread into neighboring Ulster County, according to CBS New York. This fire in the video is east of Monticello, NY on highway 209, along and near the Sullivan/Ulster county border. The RoosaGap fire has burned parts of both the Roosa Gap and Shawangunk Ridge State Forests.

Governor Andrew M. Cuomo has deployed New York State resources, including state firefighters and equipment, like helicopters, to fight the wildland fire. More than 2,285 acres have burned so far.

Numerous state assets from the Division of Homeland Security, Department of Environmental Conservation, State Police, Department of Transportation and the Division of Military and Naval Affairs helped local firefighting efforts, with additional fire department assistance from Greene, Schoharie, Delaware and Broome counties.

For New York State residents, a burn ban remains in effect through May 15th due to dry conditions.
