SUNY Delhi professor Willis Brown called Delaware County 911 from his Franklin residence at approximately 6:40 a.m. Wednesday morning, shortly after he shot and killed his wife, Wendy.

Brown admitted to the 911 dispatcher that he had murdered his wife and would soon take his own life.

A local, off-duty Delaware County Sheriff's Deputy was contacted by 911 and immediately responded to the scene, according to a press release. The Deputy arrived to find Wendy and Willis Brown, both 58, deceased inside.

Deputies were assisted at the scene by the New York State Police Troop C Forensic Identification Unit.

The investigation and a forensic autopsy established that Wendy died as a result of a gunshot wound, and her death has been ruled a homicide.

An autopsy on Willis Brown confirmed that he died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. A motive for the murder-suicide has not be determined.
