Governor Andrew Cuomo joined the governors of Connecticut, New Jersey and Rhode Island in forming a coalition on gun control. The four governors announced the formation of “States for Gun Safety” about a week after the Florida high school shooting that resulted in 17 deaths. Cuomo says this partnership take new steps to prevent illegal guns from crossing state lines and by forming the nation’s first Regional Gun Violence Research Consortium he and his fellow governors will be able to better inform policymakers nationwide on how to keep their communities safe.
