Rep. Richard Hanna will be in Binghamton today to discuss the impacts of a proposal by the Food and Drug Administration that would hurt local small brewers and local farmers.

The FDA's proposed rule would require businesses to dry and package their "spent grain" before allowing it to be shipped to farms. In its current form, this rule would prevent companies that produce spent grain from giving it to area farmers at a minimal cost. Farmers rely on this spent grain as nutritious, cost effective, and readily available feed for livestock , and its an important tool for the nation's smaller, more vulnerable family farms to stay in business.

Today's news conference takes place at 3 pm at the Water Street Brewing Company in Binghamton.
