The Chenango County Sheriff's Office arrested a McDonough man Saturday after a high speed chase.

Deputies report that they tried to stop Cody J. Shamp, 21, after he was reportedly speeding at 50 mph in a 30 mph zone. Instead of stopping, Cody officials report that Shamp attempted to flee, traveling at speeds greater than 85 mph. He eventually drove onto a seasonal road, lost control, and crashed into a ditch.

Shamp was taken into custody and charged with unlawfully fleeing a police officer, reckless endangerment, and multiple traffic violations. He was arraigned in Town of McDonough Court and remanded to the Chenango County Correctional Facility on $10,000 cash bail.
