State Senator Tom Libous recently expressed his satisfaction that $90 million cut in the state budget was recently restored to the Office of People with Developmental Disabilities.

Libous said the funds are greatly needed by organizations like: Achieve, Southern Tier Independence Center, Norwich ARC and the Handicapped Children's Association.

Although the restored funds mean a big win for these organizations, the OPWDD commissioner's plan to close the Broome Developmental Center is still moving ahead.

Senator Libous is inviting his constituents to sign his online petition to keep the center open. Go to tomlibous.com/stoptheclosing.
