Well, what do you know? Just days after we heard one HBO vet had signed onto ‘Boardwalk Empire’ season 4, and hours after we heard rumblings the 1920′s Prohibition drama had begun casting historical figure J. Edgar Hoover, we’ve learned that ‘Office Space’ star and fellow HBO alum Ron Livingston has booked a regular role in the fourth season as well. Find out what brings Peter Gibbons Ron Livingston to ‘Boardwalk Empire’ season 4 inside!

‘Boardwalk Empire’ season 4 has made its most enlightened casting yet, carving out a bit of ‘Office Space’ for its upcoming year. Entertainment Weekly reports that former ‘Band of Brothers,’ ‘Game Change‘ and ‘Sex and the City’ star Ron Livingston will wash up on the shores of Atlantic city for ‘Boardwalk Empire’ season 4, taking the series regular role of wealthy out-of-town businessman Roy Phillips, who strikes the fancy of incestuous brothel owner Gillian Darmody (Gretchen Mol).

And yes, for the record, she survived season 3 finale “Margate Sands.” Also, we’ll likely lose our minds if by some miracle Livingston shared scenes with Gaston Means (fellow ‘Office Space’ star Stephen Root).

Elsewhere, ‘Boardwalk Empire’ season 4 has recruited ‘The Wire‘ star and all-around HBO vet Domenic Lombardozzi as Chicago mobster Ralph Capone, elder brother to Al Capone (Stephen Graham). Recent casting reports suggested that historical figure J. Edgar Hoover might have a recurring presence in the season, but thus far no casting has been announced.

Series creator and show-runner Terence Winter told reporters that ‘Boardwalk Empire’ season 4 would see a bit of a time jump into 1924, often seen as the year gangsters like Lucky Luciano and Al Capone truly came into their own. Winter also previously confirmed of ‘Boardwalk Empire’ season 4 that Mol and Kelly MacDonald would indeed return, despite their ambiguous presences at the end of season 3, while Michael Shannon (Nelson Van Alden) would have a stronger presence as a member of Al Capone’s crew.

What say you? Are you looking forward to ‘Boardwalk Empire’ season 4′s HBO debut? What other stars beside Ron Livingston would you like to see in Nucky Thompson’s world?
