This movie is superb.  It tells the true story of an elderly Jewish woman who takes on the entire Austrian government trying to get a painting back.  The painting was stolen by the Nazis during World War II, and her family was killed in the death camps.  This little woman wants what is rightly hers back, and she wants justice for those not here to speak for themselves.

I will not be a spoiler and tell you how this comes out but you really should see this movie.  It is gripping and carries you through the story both in real time and in flashbacks.  Some of the scenes of the treatment of the Austrian Jews at the hands of the Nazis are tough to take, but important to the story.

Helen Mirren is outstanding as Maria Altmann, the real life octogenarian in the film, and Ryan Reynolds is solid as her lawyer.  I loved this movie and the ending actually moved me to tears.  It is now at the Southside Cinema in Oneonta, but for how long, I don't know.

Go and see it now.  I give it 4 meatballs, which everybody knows is my highest rating.
