Mark your calendars for Sept. 18 for Bassett Medical Center’s annual Emergency Preparedness Fair, which offers staff and the public an opportunity to learn more about preparing for times of crisis. The event, which takes place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Bassett clinic building on River Street in Cooperstown, will be capped this year by a special presentation on New York State’s Citizens Preparedness from 3 to 4:30 p.m. in Bassett Medical Center’s Clark Auditorium. The presentation will be given by the American Red Cross and provide a comprehensive overview on how to prepare for and recover from any natural, man-made or technological disasters that could occur.

The theme of the 2015 emergency preparedness fair is senior citizen preparedness. In addition to the Red Cross, other vendors who will be on hand throughout the day are the New York State Police, Office for the Aging, Donate Life Otsego County, social security representatives, utility companies, a home care agency and medical supply company.
