The Comics Alliance Collection: Cool Stuff We (And You!) Got This Week
The ComicsAlliance staff is a diverse lineup writers, editors, artists, photographers and designers, but before we’re any of those things we’re simply fans. Appreciators. Collectors. Almost every day we share with each other via Instagram all the great books, toys, artwork, apparel, and other beautiful and/or inescapably cool objects we collect almost ceaselessly in comics stores, at conventions, and from all kinds of sources all over North America (and sometimes beyond). Displaying (i.e. showing off) some rad swag typically inspires everyone to one-up their pop-archeologist game in the never ending quest to find awesome stuff, and simply posting the week’s new comics usually causes someone to discover a new title or artist, which in turn inspires a whole new line of excavation.
In the past we’ve published photos of our “con hauls” here on CA and the resulting discussion with readers — i.e. collector kudos — has always been fun, so with the ComicsAlliance Collection we’re going to do it every week. But more importantly, we want to see your collection too. Show us new additions to your collections by using the hashtag #CAcollection on Instagram and we’ll embed the best stuff alongside our own recent acquisitions. And please do follow us @ComicsAlliance.
ADHD’s Captain America Statistics Song Reminds You America Is Terrible [Video]
Independence Day. That time when Americans come together to celebrate our liberation from Great Britain, barbecue, and contemplate the depths of our disgrace.
That last one has been a little easier to process thanks to Fox's Animation Domination High-Def, also known as ADHD, who've taken the theme song from the vintage Captain America animated series and replaced the lyrics with some shameful statistics collected from the CIA's World Factbook.
Best Art Ever (This Week): Independence Day 2014 Edition
It’s Independence Day in the USA, and the ComicsAlliance staff has the day off. As such, here’s a special compilation of all the patriotic pin-ups and other pieces of art that we feel are distinctly American enough to spotlight on the fourth of July. Check out some excellent visions of your favorite superheroes in the red, white and blue (and sometimes yellow – somehow it works) and enjoy the holiday.
The Dark Man Of Steel Returns: Henry Cavill’s Superman Is Back And Wetter Than Ever
Superman has arrived in Gotham City -- that, or he's surveying the apocalyptic wasteland that is Metropolis in the wake of his terrible wrath in Man of Steel. Either of those scenarios may be reflected in a new promotional image released in support of Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, the new Zack Snyder film based on the DC Comics superheroes created by Bill Finger & Bob Kane and Jerry Siegel & Joe Shuster.

Best Art Ever (This Week): Spirou, Winter Soldier, Godzilla, Monsters Inc, Prince And More
We make a regular practice at ComicsAlliance of spotlighting particular artists or specific bodies of work, as well as the special qualities of comic book storytelling, but because cartoonists, illustrators and their fans share countless numbers of great pinups, fan art and other illustrations on sites like Flickr, Tumblr, DeviantArt and seemingly infinite art blogs that we’ve created Best Art Ever (This Week), a weekly depository for just some of the pieces of especially compelling artwork that we come across in our regular travels across the Web. Some of it’s new, some of it’s old, some of it’s created by working professionals, some of it’s created by future stars, some of it’s created by talented fans, awnd some of it’s endearingly silly. All of it is awesome.
‘The Wicked + The Divine’ #2 Variant Cover Gazes A Gazely Stare
Because you're young you may not realize the latest Wicked + Divine variant cover is a particularly cheeky reference to a 1976 mugshot of David Bowie, himself a major inspiration on the Kieron Gillen/Jamie McKelvie series about ancient gods reincarnated as glamorous pop stars. But hang on to yourself; the only way to get ahold of this conversation piece is to buy it from Beach Ball and Corner Store Comics in California.
New ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ Trailer Comes With Splinter Voice, Robo-Shredder And Whoopi [Video]
The latest trailer for producer the Michael Bay-produced, Jonathan Liebesman-directed Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles gives us the most clarity we've seen yet on the new film based on on Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird’s enduringly popular characters. While fans may never accept the lusciously lipped, Shrek-like designs for the TMNT, some may be relieved to learn the apparent fact that the Japanese villain Shredder will not be played by the distinctly non-Japanese William Fichtner, as previously reported.
No, now the Shredder is a robot.
