New York state has its first Republican candidate for governor.

Westchester County executive Robert Astorino announced his intention to run against Democratic governor Andrew Cuomo in an on-line video yesterday.

Astorino is serving his second term as Westchester County's leader. He says he decided to run after touring the state looking for support from grass roots Republicans.

The 46-year old says people are leaving the state in droves to look for jobs in other states--and that he can turn things around.

There are two other candidates considered possibilities to run for the Republican ticket, including millionare real estate developer Donald Trump and Buffalo businessman Carl Paladino.
