‘Anger Management’ Update: Selma Blair Out after Charlie Sheen Threatens to Quit

Anger Management Charlie Sheen Selma Blair Fired

We thought ‘Anger Management‘ would breeze through its impressive 100-episode order without too many “Tiger blood”-type incidents, but it seems yesterday’s breaking Selma Blair news may prove a major roadblock after all. Series lead Charlie Sheen reportedly threatened FX executives to abandon the series outright if co-star Selma Blair is allowed to keep her role on the sitcom, and that has led to Blair being let go.

Today’s first update came once again from TMZ, who broke the news that Blair’s alleged complaints about Sheen’s professionalism led the former ‘Two and a Half Men‘ star to call for her job. Blair wasn’t present for the Monday shoot that Sheen had threatened to uphold, but it remains unclear if the actress had actually been called to work that day.

TMZ claimed that Sheen has threatened to quit the series if FX executives don’t begin the process of terminating Blair from the series, writing out her therapist character Kate Wales. Ironically, it was Sheen who first lobbied for Blair to get the part to begin with, after FX initially left her out of the final auditions. Blair was personally pressed for comments by TMZ cameramen, but understandably denied any insight into the situation.

And now it’s official that Selma Blair has left the show. Lionsgate issued a statement this afternoon that read “We are confirming that Selma Blair will not be returning to Anger Management and we wish her the very best.” Who they get to replace her, and how it will be handled on the show will be determined shortly.
