Allegro 5k Run-Walk to Benefit Chenango County Council of the Arts

The Chenango County Council of the Arts is set for its 12th annual 5k Allegro Run/Walk for the Arts this Saturday in downtown Norwich.

Victoria Kapel, executive director of the Arts Council, explains how the Allegro run was started.

"We were trying to think of a way about a dozen years ago that we could do a fundraiser for the council, but also introduce the Council of the Arts to some people who maybe hadn't been here before or didn't know a lot about us and wanted to give," she said. "We also wanted to give families in the area sort of a fun and healthy thing to do early in May, so we came up with the idea of a 5k run that is done throughout Norwich."

The Allegro 5k Run/Walk kicks off at 9 a.m. in front of the Arts Council office at 27 West Main Street in Norwich.

To register for the run go online to chenangoarts.org or stop by the Arts Council office. You may also register the day of the event at 8 a.m. in front of the Arts Council offices.
