1,500 National Guard Workers on Furlough During Shutdown

The federal government shutdown has about 1,500 National Guard civilian workers off the job.

A planned weekend training for the state’s Air National Guard wing’s 3,200 reservists may also be in jeopardy for this weekend because of a lack of funds.

The republican majority of the House of Representatives proposed a stop-gap measure yesterday that would keep the National Guard in business, but Senate Democrats are not going along with a piece-by-piece approach.
